With several years of experience in film restoration, the Jocelyne Saab Association has developed solid expertise in this field, enabling it to implement an alternative restoration approach and to operate independently from the laboratories dominating the market (see "Our History"). In 2025, it participated in the creation of the Maraya digital restoration laboratory, based in Beirut. This laboratory has become the technical arm of the association, equipped with a Blackmagic Cintel scanner and workstations with the various software needed to carry out professional digital restoration of 16mm or 35mm films.
The AJS currently has 10 associated technicians and numerous partners, and offers its services to individuals (directors, rights holders, etc.) who wish to undertake film restoration work. We primarily work on preservation projects that align with our approach to safeguarding archives and whose images fit the editorial direction of the AJS.
Upon completion of the restoration work, the films will be exported in various formats (preservation and distribution formats), subtitled in several languages (French / English / Arabic) and stored on media that ensures their preservation (LTO magnetic conservation tapes currently constitute the most secure medium after film for data preservation). Multiple tapes can be created and deposited in various archival locations in Arab countries with which the Jocelyne Saab Association has established partnerships. It is indeed necessary to multiply conservation locations to ensure the security of the material.
The AJS reserves the right to program the restored films.
