Là-bas près de la rivière by Blaise Senghor is a graduation film from IDHEC, completed in 1960.

In a flooded city, a Black family lives in a house on the verge of being submerged by rising waters. Mann is in the main room with his brother Bob, while in another room their sister Loulou is unsuccessfully trying to give birth. The family receives a timely visit from a clergyman. He offers to take them on his boat to join his relatives in the hills surrounding the city, and thus escape the White men who are requisitioning Black men to build a dam.
