Film restoration services
With many years’ experience in film restoration, the Association Jocelyne Saab has developed solid expertise in this field, enabling it to implement an alternative restoration approach and to be autonomous in the face of the laboratories dominating the market (see “Our history”).
Today, the JSA has 3 associate technicians and numerous partners, and offers its services to people (filmmakers, rights holders, etc.) wishing to undertake film restoration work. We mainly work on projects that are in line with our approach to safeguarding archives, and whose images are in line with AJS’s editorial line.
Once the restoration work has been completed, the films will be exported in a variety of formats (conservation and broadcast formats), subtitled in several languages (French / English / Arabic) and stored on media enabling them to be preserved (magnetic conservation tapes (LTO) are currently the most secure medium after film for data preservation). Several cassettes can be created and deposited in different archiving facilities in Arab countries with which the Jocelyne Association has formed partnerships. It is indeed necessary to multiply the storage locations to ensure the safety of the material.
The JSA reserves the right to program restored films.
