Synopsis
Samar is a young girl of the war. Forced to lead a nomadic life, she grew up amongst the fighters, learning to live alongside them in a country at war. Her constant defiance of life contrasts with her love of Egyptian romantic comedies, until the day she meets Karim, who brings these two sides of her personality together, giving rise to a love story set against the backdrop of war.
The film was re-edited for its theatrical release in 1988 and is also distributed under the title A Suspended Life (90 min). The restored version is the film's original cut, which Jocelyne Saab believed she had lost and whose disappearance she deeply regretted, considering this original edit "certainly more naive" but closer to her sensibility. This original print was found after the filmmaker's death. All 35mm copies of the film currently in circulation feature the 1988 edit.
