ThePostOffice

Following on from the workshop held in Marseille in August 2021, the Jocelyne Saab Association and the Cinematheque Beirut project offered a presentation by the technicians trained with professionals from FIAF and the Cinémathèque Suisse, with the aim of training a new group of people in restoration ethics and the Diamant HS-ART and DaVinci Resolve software. An introduction to Flame was also offered.

 

This third part of the workshop series was hosted by ThePostOffice and led by Mounir Al Mahmoud and Mahmoud Korek. Supported by the Roberto Cimetta Fund.

 

The trainers

 

Mounir Al Mahmoud

Mounir Al Mahmoud is a media operator and editor at ThePostOffice. He has over sixteen years’ experience in digital media production, animation and post-production (ATL BTL Digital), editing (Avid Media Composer, Adobe Premiere). He also works on 3D modeling (Blender, XSI Softimage), compositing (Fusion) and conforming (scratch). He creates DCPs for cinema (EasyDCP, OpenDcp), installs subtitles (Eztitle), does advanced DVD & Bluray authoring (Scenarist) as well as digital and analog patching (Audio Video). He has completed a training course in digital film restoration organized by the FIAF Technical Commission and the Swiss Cinematheque, and offered by the Association Jocelyne Saab, Cinematheque Beirut and hosted by the Polygone étoilé.


Mahmoud Korek

Mahmoud Korek founded ThePostOffice with Ghada Oueidat in Beirut in 1998, a post-production, special effects and animation company. The founders’ personal dedication has enabled Postoffice to produce and co-produce numerous independent film projects in Lebanon and Syria.
